Logging My Way

White oak log on the way out.

White oak top. In this part of the country about the only place we have trees are in the holler's. Very steep and most of the loggers use cable skidders.

This is my skidder. 27 HP Ford 1720 equipped with a Garwood 30,000 pound winch.

Thought I hit the mother lode when I found this walnut burl.

The burl turned out to be an "onion skin" - not near as pretty wood as a burl with eyes.

Tree length logs pulled out on the landing.

The chainsaws. Top one is a Husky 272XP with its little helper a Husky 350. The 272 is the best saw I have ever had my hands on. The 350 don't impress me at all.

My log truck with a load. I have been known to pull two wagons at a time.
