Mill studies aren't that hard to perform. But, a lot can get lost in organizing the data and designing the necessary study. Data collection can be done by anyone. In some instances, all that is needed is a stopwatch, pencil and paper. Others, such as a yield study, would require some special skills. To save time and expense, I suggest that data collection be done by the mills. Data analysis can also be done in house. But, in many cases, it is easier to send the data to someone else to be compiled and interpreted. If you have questions about your operation, I can assist you in designing mill studies for you. Over 25 years experience as a consulting forester and sawmill specialist. Experience includes timber sales, procurement, mill design and operations management.

Hands on mill experience from lumber stacker to head sawyer. Over 30 years industrial experience.
