This calculator checks a beam resting over 2 supports, overhanging one of the supports with a load concentrated on the end of the overhang. Load is The total load on the end of the beam. M1 is the bending moment at midspan between supports. M2 is the bending moment over the post adjacent to the overhang. D1 is the maximum deflection midspan between supports. D2 is the deflection on the outboard end of the overhang. R1 and R2 are the loads on each support, these should be used to check for crushing of the beam to post connection and the post dimensions.
