dovetail on end grain Piece is clamped with sacrificial wood on the far end to keep from marking the piece and sacrificial wood is clamped on top and bottom and positioned flush with the end of the board to be dovetailed. The router is run up and down with the sacrificial pieces used as a guide for thickness and squareness. Also the jig extends beyond the width of the board to combat dovetail rounding of each edge (top<-->bottom) of the board as it sits in the jig.
