Checking a Tenon for parallel. In this photo we see a framing square on the reference face of the piece. And a combination square on top of the framing square. The depth set on the combination square ruler is for the width of the framing square and the depth of the offset. This way we can check the entire surface of this tenon and see if it's offset the correct amount.
