This question was spawned by the dangerous tool thread.
I have been drilling some 5/8, 3/4 and even some 1' holes in truck frames, heavy I beam and some 1/2 in plate.
My method has been to drill a 3/8 hole, then use a 5/8 reamer, which works out fine and is much faster than using a 5/8 bit for 5/8 holes.
I use the same method then switch to the 3/4 reamer for bigger holes, but it seems to hang up much worse (you can plan on it), not sure why.
Would I be better off just starting off with the 3/4 reamer?
My 3/4 reamer is an old one, and about 4 inches longer than the 5/8, so the problem might be my self not keeping it straight enough.
Any thoughts?

The mag drill with an anular cutter is by far the best way I have to do this, but there are times the mag drill can't be used, or I don't have the right cutter.
