The other day, my son, grandson and I were cutting up some pine logs for 2x4s.  I slabbed the log into 2 inch and we had re-stacked them on the carriage to cut  the 2 byes. I had not noticed that a knot had gotten stuck in gears, and so when I advanced the carriage for the first cut, only the front headblock advanced.  I made the cut and some real pretty wedges came out the other end. As my grandson threw them onto the slab pile, it occurred to that the one clear reject might make a new walking stick for me. This week I took out my pocket knife  and got the following results--

Not too bad for something headed for the burn pile 8)

Very creative.  I have a cane dad made with a snake carved crawling up the shaft.

The skill you have shown with your pocket knife is amazing.  Good stuff!

Nice job.  Why am I not surprised that Kbetiz has a collection of canes?  Banjo
Never explain, your friends don't need it, and your enemies won't believe you any way.

I can't draw stick figures so I better keep my pocket knife holstered.  Love your cane.

Now anytime you have 10 of something....thats not a small collection.  It may be smaller than your mower collection, I will agree to that.  I love seeing your stuff Kbeitz.  Banjo

Kibeitz, you have beat on your collection. Did you make them?  Kudos if you did. You always do top rate work on your projects! 8)

I made most of them. But not my favorite one that I posted first.
That's what got me started. I bought that one for $250.00

My great-grandson talked me out of the first walking stick, so I had to make a new one. Kbietz, I kind of stole the design of your featured stick, but made enough changes to make it legal. Hope you all like this one too-

This is how it started out-

  - The top-knot

  - The whole stick.  It features a rattlesnake biting the head of a grey squirrel. 8)
