My loader runs off an 8.2 L Detroit motor . Anytime I set the throttle to 1200 rpms or above , the motor begins to race on its own .    I thought it might be the hand throttle , but as I used the pedal it will do the same thing . Anyone have any ideas why this does this , or how to correct it would be appreciated .

Sounds like you are having governor issues.

8.2 was a 4 stroke. I have only seen a couple. Built to compete with a 3208 cat.

Is it eating it's own oil?
French CD4 sawmill. Latil TL 73. Self moving hydraulic crane. Iveco daily 4x4 lwb dead as of 06/2020. Replaced by a Brimont TL80 CSA.

No , it just begins to race on its own once you get the rpms up a grand .

The 8.2 was a v 8 4 stroke. Maybe a poor one at that. Sounds like injection pump issues
