I've been looking at a few walnut trees for a while, one of which was 45" wide and had at least 4 good logs in it. Well, today I got 3 of the trees cut, but the big one was hollow about 10' up, very disappointing, but the second log has a 30" crotch in it.

Ended up with 9 logs, a few for slabs and a few for boards

Hope to slab this crotch this weekend

That's still some NICE heartwood in the walnut. I would be pleased.

Got a few nice 20" plus slabs

Also go a couple that were 36" on the big end

Had a few bad spots but still a nice slab

Nice looking slabs. Big suckers.

Anything salvageable in the hollow part? Like side strips or something?

Fill them cracks with glue and coffee grounds and you will never

That works too. Coffee is just cheaper.

If you use coffee grounds and glue for knot holes you cant tell the difference between a real knot and a coffee one.

Just yellow wood glue and coffee grounds (spent coffee)?  What is the ratio?  A pic?

I'll have to get some closeups. ratio? don't know I just add glue until it looks right.
I filled the worm hole on this bench with it. I'll get better pictures.
