44 and counting
« on: August 06, 2017, 11:17:44 pm »
Her mother said she's so contrary that if her head itched, she'd scratch her butt.
Her father said she'd argue with a fencepost.
They were both right. Married her anyway.

(But then she'd re-pot the post and make it sprout).

I will concede that she's probably going to stick around and not run off with a cactus.
Unless it's some rare, night-blooming thing or a saguaro.

She's still feeding critters, birds, flowers, dogs, and me. I guess that means she's gonna tolerate me a while longer.

(Tip for bachelors: Set your wedding day for some historical event so you don't forget the anniversary).

Perseverance.  Congratulations to you and Mrs. Grouch. We hit 40 last month on 2nd as I left for the long July 4th weekend to rush down to Ala, get married and return to USMC base with her. Been all over the world with her since.

Good looking lady and I hope she and you hold up as well for the next 44.

Thanks folks! It's been an interesting journey so far.

Before we were married, she listed a few things she wanted (I think they call it a bucket list now) and didn't think I was listening. It was a very modest list: 1. Live in the country (check), 2. have a big house (ugh! check), 3. retire in her 50s (check), 4. a Mercedes (huh? more later), 5. a corner cupboard (check), 6. and a thing involving ERC that I won't mention in case she comes by here (not yet done).

I thought I had number 4 covered by buying an old clunker '84 Mercedes 300 turbo diesel to fix up. Turns out she was thinking of one of those classic 2-seater, gull-wing things. When I showed her the typical price of such things, she decided she liked our old Volvo better.

Thanks!

I was worried about surviving the night after posting those photos. She generally hides from cameras. Sent her an email with the link, before anybody responded, (gave me the opportunity to have a running head start, just in case) and she was ok with it. :)

Love the picture of the critters, (think herding cats.)

I cropped several more critters out of that picture. They all knew where the food came from, so anytime she took a walk, she had that herd as an escort. (We have no cats now. I don't miss them or their fleas).
