Was cutting some 12' 12x12 doug fir beams today and has an oops moment while cleaning up some flecks. Flipped a 2x12 fleck after squaring one side and crushed 2 fingers between the board and the permanent side stop. Ended up with 5 stitches and a broken finger.

My folks give me the old Be careful every time I leave their house. I guess thye had not done that for a month or more before my accident so I told them it was their fault I cut my thumb off. They are back at it now. I even get a call now and then ''be careful''.

You are going to remember that is there every time you touch anything for a while.

Thanks guys, surprisingly it don't hurt that bad unless I bump them. Funny thing is, the last 12x12 to finish the order, I had to cut after the injury. We were down to a couple of logs without falling another tree. So, the last one had quite a bit of Wayne. I told the customer before delivering that was the case and that if he didn't want it, I would cut another. We deliver them and he was okay with it. Then when I got home I had a voicemail requesting 2 more with the Wayne. Apparently his wife really liked the way it looked and wanted more of them.

We sawed with a Rookie Crew one time . First thing I showed them was rolling a 4x12 18 ft long oak timber on a black pipe. Then I used a copper pipe and dropped the long timer onto the copper pipe. The copper pipe was Flat. I stressed to everyone that will be their finger or arm !  We sawed for four days without much body damage. But lots of Advil ,Aleve and Motrin.

This is what we delivered on the second trip. I didn't realize how hard it is to take a perfect log and make imperfect beams, but the customer loved them.

Since Red keeps begging for more pictures  ;D  here is some pics from when I kersmashed my hand awhile back...

18 stitches and 4 pins.  Nowadays when the 3 frankenstein fingers get cold they turn green and go numb.

If you look at my hand you can see where the cast was and where it wasn't (my thumb and pointer nice and dirty lol).  I think I missed 1 week of work from this before they let me come back on light duty.

Not trying to hijack your thread!  Just showin ya I also put some fingers in the wrong place at the wrong time lol

That looked like it hurt. What made them use pins on the pinky, was it the tip that was broke? Fortunately I have short term disability insurance at my day job so, there is no reason to rush back to light duty for me. I should be seeing a specialist this week and I'm wondering if I'll get pins since it's the tip that's broken and there is nothing to support it while it heals.

It's hard to see in the picture but there is two pins in the pinky and two pins in the ring finger.  I'm not sure why they put them in there but it sure was fun when he twisted and yanked them out of there with his pliers  :D 8)
