Yup, I'd go with "most of an edger"

This is the modern version.

Kbeitz I am sure you would have it back in working order in no time. It is all your if you want it.  I have a friend that has a new cook's mill and edger. A friend that recently bought a new property had a bunch of old cedar logs piled up from an old mill site.  I figure there are 100-120 logs all heart wood the sap wood is long gone. I figure they have been laying there for at least 15 years

Thanks

Yep a Bellsaw edger I've got one just like it,the one I got is probably
an older model as it has flat belts instead of the V's on the one shown.

I have plans to back at the site early in the morning to load up the edger. I have looked around but I have not seen anything else. But I did not see this till we uncovered it and there are 5 or 6 big piles of logs.  Who knows

Thanks

No doubt that you will be able to fix it, but, oh, what a job that is ahead of you.  Then again, you will probably have done by the morning ;)

Who's waiting till morning ?

I got everything moving even the slide.
I do think this will take me a while.
First thing tomorrow I'm making a base for it.
I don't like working on the ground.
I will start a new posting on this rebuild.

Nothing I can't pound out.
But I might change to V-grove belts.

How about cross-linking the two threads when you do?

It looks different already. It sure was nice meeting Joe. I carried it to work one morning met Joe at his son's house and loaded it on his trailer (he has pictures)
I believe he hauled it to Georgia and then to PA. It has quite a few miles on it now

Thanks

So... Are you happy with it ? Does it do what you want.
What is the widest board that you can make ?
How many HP does it take to run it ?

Thanks.

Yep I like it works good,I used a 13 HP kobota tractor rigged it up to run
off the PTO. It will take some power if edging thick oak the one I got has three saws
it was rigged to cut 2 inch off of one side as well as the adjusted blade cut. Don't know
why it was rigged this way,but I kept it and just edge it without using the first saw.I have
never had trouble with flat belts but I think V would be better. A fellow had one rigged up
with a two cylinder Wisconsin baler engine worked fine, you will need to mount engine
on top to get right rotation I crossed two long V's to make it turn right off the PTO
                                            Hope this helps W.C.W.

Kbeitz

Thanks. I got a 14hp Kohler engine that I'm going to use.
