I have logs in process of spalting.
I pulled this log last week and sawed it into different thickness slabs leaving the live edge.

Lots and Lots of sanding with the thought of leaving it a little primitive. I don't like to build anything that looks like it came from Rooms to Go. Poplar was used for the backing.
Some parts didn't look spalted but I accomplished that by mixing stains and using a torch.
Poplar was also used to make the glass hangers.

It stands 6 foot high x 34 inches wide by 11 inches deep.

The pictures should explain. Hope you like it.  :)

Sorry for the duplicate pic.

Here the shell.

And then it was on.

Ox

That looks very good to my eyes.  I would be proud to have it in my house.

Why is it whenever I build something similar (primitive) it looks like crap to me but everyone else says it looks good?  Do you have this problem as well, Goat?  Are you happy with how this turned out or not really?

What ever you build Ox, there is only 1 person that loves it and thats the person that buys it......and that person is out there. You just have to find the right market to post a picture of your work in.

Yes, I am very happy for the way it turned out.
Its is a simple build.......as long as you put the back on last.

Nice build. I save all kinds of unique stuff off the mill but usually wind up giving them away to bums... I mean friends. Did you just put it together green?
Saw you tomorrow!

Did you just put it together green?

No, it was at 12%. I used lots go glue and deck screws, then plugged the screw holes with white Oak dowels.
