Is 1/2" too thick for a 2" wide slick? I'm sure it is but thought I'd ask to make sure. I made a damascus billet for an axe head and I have enough left over for a slick but I'm afraid that's way too thick.

I don't think so, mass in a slick is a good thing.

I think that at the thickest m slick is 3/8" thick.

I think it would be OK but do you think it would be too thick? would it get in the way? I may try to thin the stock out some before finish work but drawing it out by half is not fun for an extra project lol.

I would think as long as it's not so thick that you can't see the working edge, it should be fine (might need a longer taper between the body to the edge)?
