I run a 24" bar on a Husqvarna 460 with my Alaskan Mk III mill, for producing boards from green logs as well as "remilled" lumber from seasoned, reclaimed barn timbers. I have two Granberg rip chains for my 20" Husky 450. I'm wondering if I can just hang the 20" bar on the 460 and run the 20" rip chains... I don't need the extra bar length when milling reclaimed barn timbers anyway, just more power to the chain... but I suspect that the drive sprocket may be larger in the 460, may not work with the bar and chain off the 450. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Greg

You should be able to install the .325 sprocket from the 450 on the 460, if it is at all worn get a new one.

Thanks, sawguy21... I never considered that, but it makes perfect sense. I'll give it a go. Stay safe and thanks again.
