starting my search for a 24k equipment trailer to move my Bobcat E80 = 19,000 pounds.
have decided it will be a gooseneck
have a 2007 dodge Ram 3500 2wd with dualys

should i get a beaver-tail with fold-down ramps, or a tilt-bead?

a new 20 foot beaver-tail runs about $12,000
found a used one for $7,000 with oil bath torsion axles.

You're going to need a dual tandem with at least 12K axles.

I have a 37' hydraulic dovetail gooseneck that I really like.  It allows me to put equipment on the back of it and load out the front with logs.

Based upon the specs for that machine, you will need a deck height of no more than 36" to have max of 12', and at least 21' of deck length in order to not have any part of the machine hanging off the back.

A beaver-tail with fold over ramps will probably be more flexible in terms of loading and hauling other things on the deck.

Thank you. I already knew it needed 12k tandem duallys

the 37' hydraulic dovetail gooseneck is WAY out of my price range.

the main job of the trailer is to move it on my 166 acre property. driving the excavator a 1/2 mile is no fun. plus the trailer will give me flexibility for other things

Either will work but sometimes loading onto a tilt deck trailer can be somewhat exhilarating.  I think that I'd just watch for the best deal locally.
