I am looking at getting a stump grinding attachment for the mini. It's a Kubota 35. Wondering whether I should get a stump grinder or stump auger. I saw an auger looking deal from fecon that looked pretty neat. Most stumps would be in the 15 inch plus range, up to 4foot cedar stumps

We have legit four foot stumps, some a bit bigger. Will a ripper tooth really bust through roots that big? I'm also not sure we want to leave giant craters as much as grind them down.

looked at a video of the auger. it is slow. and what do you do if the stump is bigger than the auger?

I use the ripper on stumps 24 inch and less.

if i was you i would rent a grinder and see how it works, then if it does what you want then buy one.

That post says they did a 5ft oak in 25 min. A 5 ft second growth cedar should take less I would think. I think the ripper tooth would be nice though time wise.

I agree see if you can rent one and then make a purchase based on how it works even if you lose some time in driving to pick it up from another city it beats dealing with buyers remorse later.
