Solar kiln thermometer/hygrometer

For those of you using a solar kiln what type thermometer/hygrometer do you use to monitor the temp and humidity in the kiln?  thanks!

With the Virginia Tech design and similar, you do not need to monitor temperature to do a good drying job.  Of more importance is the daily drying rate of the wood...% MC loss per day...especially when above 40% MC.  As moisture meters do not work well above 30% MC, you need to use the weighing method, which is covered in most drying texts.

Wall mart or any outdoor weather monitor, $20 bucks or so, with the wireless remote probe with temperature and RH.  It's good practice to know what the environmental conditions are to get the intuitive feel and understanding of drying.  Keep an EMC chart handy, and you'll know what conditions your wood is experiencing. 
Not as exciting as TV, but more educational.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.
