I am hearing disturbing news that certified tree farms under the tree farm system will be charged $75.00 per year for the certification.  If this is true and comes around, it is the death toll for the small tree farm.  I gave up on the tree farm certifications when they could not keep their records straight and were continually changing their forms and procedures.  Many foresters in Texas have dropped the certification process.  It is another example of a bureaucracy strengthening their hold on private industry while enriching their coffers.

This topic came up in our local Forestry Association monthly Board Meeting this morning.  So far charging a fee is still speculation and it would be prorated according to the number of acres that you have.
