Hi All,
I have a PP220 [about 10 years old]. Anyhow, a month ago I noticed the bar/chain overheating so stopped sawing and checked it out. no bar and chain oil..reservoir is nearly full. I clean all passageways etc..still no oil. I figure the pump has stripped so order a new one. Finally get around to disassembly last week. Replace the pump, no problem. Still no oil...*&^*&^%. I can pull the pump away from the shaft and turn the nylon gear by hand and it pumps oil. I checked the worm gear [spring] on shaft and it appears correct but perhaps it is too far down the shaft to turn the pump gear? It seems to go on until the first ring drops into a groove in the shaft. Any suggestions??

So, it pumps oil by hand turning.
Worm gear spring on correctly? Usually painted red on inner side.
Worm is loose on crankshaft and not turning?

gear is not painted; neither was original. I oriented it same way as original.
It is pretty tight on shaft-cannot see any way it would slip. Also should it slide on until it engages in the groove in the shaft or is that too far in to operate the pump gear?

Thanks for the photo. looks just like my setup sans the red paint on the gear.

Then, somehow the worm gear is not turning the nylon plunger gear. The nylon gear can have 1 worn spline that makes it stop turning.

Check the seal block and the pick up line. If the seal block is worn, the oiler will suck air and it won't oil.

Make sure there is a good seal from the block to the pick up lin.
