Love those old videos. :)
With technology coming along safety has improved a lot. Just look at the weight of a chainsaw, it's only a few pounds and it comes with chain brake and chain catcher, anti vibration blocks , handle bar warmers , you name it.
Also as the big trees are all gone, guys are sitting in enclosed cabs with lexan glass laying down wood all day long without getting tired and producing large volume .  The risk of getting hurt is a lot smaller this days compared to back then.   
But still, statistics show that the chance of getting hurt in the woods is much higher if there is more than one person working. Some guys may disagree,
I am a one man show and rather taking a lower risk with a longer response time to a incident over working in a team where you always have to watch what everybody else is doing.  Just my opinion.
Make sure you know how to fall properly when you fall and as to not hurt anyone around you.
Also remember, it's not the fall what hurts, its the sudden stop. !!
