Go WIDE! Wood-Mizer introduces three new wide sawmill head options for the LT40, LT50, and LT70 portable sawmills. The wide saw head increases the maximum width of cut from 28" on the standard models to 34" on the wide head models and is now available on new sawmills for an additional $795 USD for the LT40/LT50 and $895 USD for the LT70.

Hi Dave Shepard,

The wide head option isn't available as a retrofit, it can only be added as an option on new LT40/50 and LT70 sawmills. Another option is a trade-in, feel free to give us a call at 800.525.8100 for more info about that. Thanks!

If I were to trade, I would get an LT70 Wide AC Wireless.

Very excited to hear about the wide option now available, but hasn't the wide option been available on the LT70 for some time now?

Hi Darrel, yes! The LT70 wide head has been available, but the LT40 and LT50 are getting the wide head option for the first time which we are excited about too.  8)

Did Wood-Mizer make any changes to the debarker and blade guide arm to accommodate the wider throat or do you just have a larger "minimum" in the closed position?

Ga Mtn Man,

Great question, the blade guide arm has been modified to accommodate for the wider throat. We are currently working on updating the debarkers on these models for the wider cut. The debarker for these models is only available on the standard head models right now. Sawyers can order the wide head sawmill and add the "wide" debarker later when it is has been updated.

Will there be a "C" frame and hardware  kit for exsisting LT40's ?  I was going to stretch my 40 super but this might be a game changer for me .

Very enticing! Always need just a little more room for the redwood and fir out here in California. Looking at an LT50 or super 70. Just can't decide which.

Does the wider throat affect accuracy of the cut or make knot wave more pronounced?

The only picture I have found of a 40/50 wide is the one Woodmizer has above. Got any more tucked away you could share?
