So the starter cord on my 461 keeps breaking. I never had this happen on my old 461 (was stolen) I keep changing out the spools, changed the grommet on the cover, always drop start the saw. Any ideas, I can't keep breaking cord every week.

Are you using OEM or after market rope? Is it snapping cleanly or showing signs of fraying or abrasion?

If you're sure nothing sharp is fraying rope along it's travel path, I'd try thicker rope. If yours is the 3.5mm called for. I'd try 4.0mm or 4.5mm.

Had a guy tell me once that if he doesn't use his decompression valve he breaks cords. I never use mine and don't have a problem. Just a thought
When all else fails, cut it and see what happens.

If you're sure nothing sharp is fraying rope along it's travel path,

The only way the rope could get frayed is if this sleeve's bent edge is straight enough to do it.

Drop starts could also be a cause  ::)
