I have lost several fuel caps from my Stihl 020 AVP and bought replacements on eBay for under $10. Now the cheapest one I saw is $65 and the most expensive is listed at over $250!!!! I should have been more careful and sold all those caps and bought a brand new saw with the money. 8(

Cheap new caps for Stihl and from Stihl don't fit my AVP. When did Stihl change the thread size and where can I get a replacement for my old fine-thread tank?

If I  can't find one at a decent price, I'll find a block of plastic and make one on my lathe. But I'd rather find one.

Anybody have a cap or know where I can get one for $10 or so?

Wonderful thought, but those don't fit. They have the new thread pitch.

I found that Chainsawr had what I need at just under $20 with shipping. (Wish there had been an option for first class rather than priority, but....)

It may be only on fleabay that the asking price is so high. I will attach a keeper cord or chain to this one, so won't be buying again, I hope.

I looked up the late 90s parts catalogue. There are two 020s shown there.
020 (1114)
and
020 (1129)

The 1129 version has the cap with part #0000 350 0520, which was common to lot of models, 020, 021, 023, 024, 026, .................088!
But the former with part #1114 350 0501 is limited to a couple of long defunct brushcutters and cutoff saw.

Good info Joe.
The early 1114 series 020 had a long run from about 1971 to the early 1990's.
The newer 020 series is a totally different animal.

I also checked the 2012 Mediacat that I use. Both the versions are shown there also.
But I dont really know about the current parts list, I dont use one because they haven't bothered  to give me one.
Maybe the 1114 has been dropped in the current parts list

Never mind, dug it out of the parts pile and it's different.

Yes, but not the same informative way as on the cd or dvd

Parts smart is not near as good as media cat. But if your familiar with E-service it has the same system as media cat. Bit slower but info is there. Go to E-service and hold mouse over technical documents then select parts look up. then a menu to left comes up and your off. Good example the FS250 trimmer is not in parts smart but it is in E-service.
