My brother is building a house and needed shiplap for the kitchen and hallways. The shiplap they priced was over twice the price of regular 1X8s. So guess who got to shiplap 185 16' long 1X8s today? I will sleep good tonight.

That power feeder works a whole lot better than ma and my featherboards.

Really enjoyed the video particularly the sound of the wood going through the shaper.  Thank you.

I was at Jake's yesterday picking up some maple.  He has a regular lumber yard in the chicken house.  I think he must use some kind of high tech gadget to put down his stickers.  Every single stick was in perfect position.

I planed a couple of the maple boards today and they were bright white.  Good lumber at a fair price.

I'm glad they worked out for you Larry. I did have some that got sticker stain, but it didn't go very deep. What I worked with cleaned up easily at 3/4".

0.56 miles of shiplap.  Looks like it turned out well and the power feeder seems to be earning its keep.

With each side, we did a climb cut first followed by a conventional pass. Which equates to over 2 miles of stock that passed through the shaper.  ;D

Ship lap, you say...
This is the old mans garage, 48' x 80' -> entire exterior and 2/3 of the interior are covered in shiplap (installed at a 45° bias for strength) can not tell you the amount of strength in those walls. Roof is plywood, for ease of install and reduction in cost (shiplap, very nail intensive)

Nice work that's a lot of ship lap for one day.

Great job!

I just finished installing new walls in my shop 2 weeks ago.  12' long 1X8 knotty pine tongue and groove.  I feel your pain.  I don't think I've ever been up and down a ladder so many times, as I ran it vertically, and I have 12' ceiling in my shop.

Power feeders are a woodworker's best friend, next to the shop dog, of course.

Surprised you did not use that 8" insert head for that? I made some T&G for a truck bed [bought three heads, 2 thick, one thin.] and it worked excellent. No blowout in one pass.

Makes for a mind numbingly boring day doesn't it?

I haven't wired up the vfd on the shaper yet. My Oliver spins somewhere around 8K rpm and I'd like to run that head a little slower. Like 5K or so. The t-alloy freeborn cutter I used, worked great until it got dull. And boy is it dull now!

Ah, did not know you were stuck at 8k, that would be a bit much I think. Big heavy machine, and a fairly light cutter it may work ok but it is faster than its designed for.

I ran mine at 4k and they worked well, could have been speeded up a bit but they worked well at the lower speed. Very nice cut and with the nickers nice sharp edge.
