What wood is this door made of?

Diane is refinishing an old door from my house. It came from a house that was built in the 20's and the finish had turned black.

The wood is coming out very light as she sands it off.

  

 


 

Here's a pic of the end grain.

  

 

I was thinking pine but there is no pine smell as we sand it. I am hoping it's chestnut.

I thought cypress but the end grain looks like ash

It is a ring porous hardwood.  Cypress is a softwood and does not have large open pores.
