I'm helping to put together a workshop for landowners that has an overview of designing access trails (to stand up to the gully washing storms, using Crop Tree Release methods to select trees to harvest, and a demonstration of some landowner-scale equipment that can be useful in getting the wood out of the forest (this may range from hand tools up to my compact tractor with logging winch).

We're really hoping to have a LogRite Arch to do a brief demonstration with, just to show folks what they are about, and how much easier it is to move logs on wheels rather than dragging (not to mention how it keeps the wood cleaner and avoids damage to trails). We'd prefer somethign in a size that could be operated by hand. (The tractor arches are way too big for what we need at this workshop.)

Tami - If you or someone else at LogRite is being pestered by Mark Isselhardt (University of Vermont Extension Maple Specialist), this workshop is what it's all about.

The workshop is on Saturday, Sept 24 in Monkton, VT. We've got 28 people registered so far, and may be seeing another wave of registrations in the near future (one of the organizations helping to sponsor had email issues, so their post out to their email list didn't go out until today)

I'm wondering if any of you know someone near Monkton, VT (in the Champlain Valley, south of Burlington) who might be willing to loan us the use of their arch for the workshop. It will not be getting a serious workout - our time for this portion of the workshop is limited. I would be happy to be responsible for the arch and would make good on any damage if something happens to it (which I consider highly unlikely).

If you know of anyone in the area, who might be willing to share their arch for a day, please let me know.

that is a tough weekend, there are lots of shows that same day.  We have a show here in CT that day which two of my other dealers will also be attending.  My dealer in Maine will be at the Common Ground Fair.

I am waiting to hear back from 2 other dealers in NE who might be able to help you out.

Unfortunately, we don't keep track of where each arch goes so I don't really have a way to contact a customer in the area.

I wish you had contacted us sooner so we had time to find someone.

Thanks, Tammy.  I understand.

The person I named earlier contacted someone some time ago. I don't know if it was at your facility or a dealer. He indicated there were be some difficulties (which from your email I'm guessing are the numerous shows going on).  I'm hoping a LogRite user in my general neck of the woods sees this and we can work something out.

Looks as though we found a lead on one that someone owns about an hour from us. The daughter of one of the speakers at the workshop will be coming from that way tis week anyway, so will bring it along with her.

Our workshop was Saturday, Sept. 24. The hoped-for arch did not make it.  Too bad, since we had about 30 or 35 participants plus 4 presenters who were here in part for these demonstrations. The equipment demonstration was rather abbreviated anyway, since it was last on the schedule and we were running late.

I'm still hoping to have another workshop at some point dedicated to working in the woods with smaller equipment: ATV/UTV/compact tractor, Logging arch, etc - things a typical landowner might already have or that are reasonably priced for someone with a smaller scale operation. If that happens, maybe we'll be able to arrange for an Arch demonstration then.

The sooner we know the better as I am already booking shows for next spring.

I'll let you know. It's not even on the radar yet.  Plus, this is a lot smaller exposure than what you'd get at a show. (The percentage of participants who are seriously interested might be higher than at a show, but it's still a small pool of people.)
