These are old growth bottom dwellers from a 150 year old mill pond. I am getting them seed with plenty of dish soap and an LT70. Hardest wood I have ever sawed.
Does anyone have any tricks to make these easier?

Better you than me.  Your challenge is keeping the blade pitch free and the sawdust chute open.   :o

I wonder about using the 7° Turbo blades?

Stupid question but...... Are they still wet when you get and saw them ? Looks like keeping them wet until they are sawn would be better, there is a hardwood mill near me that run sprinklers on there logs until there sawn , just a thought

The logs will not be wet inside.  I have seen no difference sawing previously submerged logs.

Sorry for the crazy questions, it was just a thought, I won't saw any hardwood dry, unless its a have too, and I won't saw locust unless its just been cut.

They are dry.
This is the first time that I have thrown a blade off running in 25 years.
These are small hard logs and the lumber is interesting but I am not sure the customer is going to be happy with the bill. I spent 6 Hours yesterday with help on about 600 feet.
I normally saw by the foot but this is going to have to be by the hour. Another question for those that run a LT70 what is your hourly charge?

I've re sawn many heart pine beams. I used 7 turbos... cutting ability was no problem. Like MM said, pitch was. Only thing got me through it was diesel for blade lube... couldn't have done it without it!!! Tried every mix I could until arriving there. I know have 2 lube bottles on deck at all times...one full of the water, dawn, and pine-sol mix typically used in most jobs, one full of diesel for THOSE kind of jobs...it also doubles as an emergency fuel can! 😃😃 If I have to run the diesel, I just switch back to the water and flush the system afterwards...

Pitch in general, as well as cleaning it from the wheels and the belts is hard on the belts in itself, so pick your poison? As long as you don't get crazy, diesel will NOT ruin the belts. Sawing lots of rough, high tension, and pitchy conditions will shorten belt life, vs sawing clean hardwood. Using diesel may shorten life slightly, but less than in the first mentioned scenario...and with far greater performance.

When you guys say diesel are we talking just a spray bottle or actually in the blade lubricator without any dilution?

Doesn't the lumber stink afterwards? I must be missing something :)

Can you guys run just a slow drip? And I mean A SLOW drip. I cut out some hemlock for the a Women Cave. If that got by Brenda's noise, than there could not of been any smell.
I think some members just use a spray bottle with diesel in it.I find it does not take much.

You are not missing anything...I run it straight in the lube tank, slow drip. It does not make the lumber stink. Unlike many things, it's really that simple. Wish I would have found all this out sooner...
