Dead Oak I.D.

I have a couple dozen standing dead oaks in my forest, no leaves, bark partially falling off.  Here's what the bark looks like.

It sure looks like the living chestnut oaks left in my woods.

Looks like chestnut oak to me. They make nice lumber grown on good soils.  I see you are in central PA.  We are too and have in a gypsy moths cycle so some oaks are dying.
