We are planning on taking this large ash down later this summer or Fall. What do you think about the base. It looks like it is mounding pretty good. What are your opinions? I have not noticed any Emerald Ask Borer damage yet.

Cut it!  I'm about  100 miles NW of you, and am  taking out as many big ash trees as I can this year.  I have seen only minor damage, but lots of ash borers.  It's a lot  better to cut a big tree  before you have to worry about dead  branches raining down on you....
If you  don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else!

I was talking to my brother who is a park ranger in NorthEast, Maryland, he said they have treated 12 of there ash trees with a systemic pesticide for the ash borers.

Hi Stihlsawer, I don't under stand this statement.
Is it a natural occurrence?
It looks to me like someone mounded up the dirt around it.
