One of the best Parts of my vacation was getting to video this sawmill.
This was in the city of Nagua the very south east part of the country
right next to the Atlantic Ocean. Anyone have any idea who made this one ?

Looks home-made to me.  The operators looked very comfortable using it (too comfortable IMO)
You may think that you can or may think you can't; either way, you are right.

I don't think its home made. Maybe it was made from a huge upright bandsaw.
The carriage and the saw had matching cast iron parts.

Neat video!  Only thing I kept thinking was:  let's not lube the carriage wheels and continue to work harder because of it.  I liked that Changfa style engine, though.  It sure was barking a few times!  Nice little engines.  I'd love to get hold of one.

When I built my mill last year I put a lube tank on it. I have yet to use it.
I havent seen where I need it. Maybe it's the wood I'm cutting?

I meant the wheels under the carriage holding the log.  They seemed to not roll very easy at all.  That sort of thing would cause me to stop and correct it, for after the correction everything is easier for a much longer time than it took to correct the problem!  This equals efficiency in my book.

Geez, I sat here messing around with the quote stuff for about 5 minutes just now.  I hate brain farts.

Very cool video and pictures. Not sure what is more impressive the mill,or the thought they still have all their appendages....gosh they look like they are very close to getting tangled up

I loved the video. I used to love to watch the operators in remote African villages using their homemade rigs. I never saw a bandsaw mill but watched some pretty funky circle mills. Mostly I saw people cutting boards out of logs by hand with their chainssaws. They were dang good at it too not to have any jigs or rails or anything as a guide.

Great video, thanks for sharing it. Being the off bearer on that mill is quite a job. Do you know what type of wood they were sawing? :)
