Hound dog got me a squirrel well he only left me the legs... And dont say anything about the crocs, they're what I wear after having the steel toes on for 12 hours.

No wonder your dog caught him if he was wearing crocs.

Frank,

How you gonna tenderize those drumsticks enough to eat them? Are you going to smother them and cook slow for a while?

My old mentor as a kid had no teeth and he'd brown them then wrap them in foil and float them on an inch of water and cook in a pressure cooker 10-15 minutes and the meat would fall off the bone. Served with homeground coarse yellow grits, field peas and hushpuppies it was a meal fit to eat.

I hope you praised your hound dog.

Just cooked them in butter garlic and salt. I dont mind them being chewy its like a jerky stick. Unless I had about 12 of them I would not bother cooking them all fancy like. Oh and the dog is mostly interested in eating the hide and fur, no clue why but it drives him nuts.

I see no problem sharing a fresh kill with my partner. Mine seem to prefer the head and hide also.

Our cat caught a grouse when we first moved up here and my son was cleaning it when my wife got home. She asked where he got it. he told her "Rainbow caught it. Its fresh. see, it still squeaks." She made him give it back to the cat.

I grew up eating squirrel, but when I moved here I had to quit. The squirrels are a lot smaller, and I guess they eat a lot of Pine seed because they taste a lot like turpentine...no mater how you cook them.
Thankfully, I've been able to replace the squirrel in my diet with Elk. I've since decided that a squirrel is just a fuzzy tailed RAT.  :D :D
