If I fill the tank, the saw leaks gas when on its side with the clutch side down. Doesn't seem to leak with 1/2 tank or even a little more. Wondering what would be the most likely source of the problem.

Probably missing part/all of your fuel tank vent - part# 501 62 96 01. Look at where it goes in the IPL:

You can get an OEM one or I've used tygon fuel line with a duckbill valve from a Poulan or Homelite.
Husky: 372xt, 272xp, 61, 55 (x3)...Poulan: 315, 4218 (x3), 2375, 2150, 2055, 2000 (x3)...Stihl 011AVT...Homelite XL...Saws come in broken, get fixed or parted, find new homes
