Some people don't understand the concept of a drive up ATM.

On the other side of this bank is a parking lot and a walk up ATM. She had to drive right by them to get to this side of the bank.

I need to download and install that app that allows you to take a picture of your deposit check so I don't have to wait in line for people like this.

end rant.

:D My bank has both as well but never fails that the people in front of me stop their car in the DRIVE UP ATM to let their passenger out to use the atm. Not sure why I can make a deposit in 45 seconds and it takes everyone else 10 minutes.
Saw you tomorrow!

Engineer

My bank only has a drive-up ATM, not a walk-up, but I cannot reach the card slot from the cab of my pickup.  I have to do the same thing - park the truck, get out, and do my banking on foot.  It doesn't take me any longer but it's a pet peeve.  They could have raised the ATM six inches and everyone could use it from their vehicle.

sawguy21

I have noticed that too but with people driving everything from low sports cars to full size 4x4's they can't please everybody. I do wish they would move the posts so I don't risk paint or my mirror getting in arms reach of the slot. Most times I park and go inside.

No ATM for me,but I drop a money bag off after hours. Each time I wonder if someone is watching and wonder why I get out to do it. Something about reaching really gives me a wicked pain. Than I have to move and stretch to get rid of it. Like if I am on one side of the tractor and need to reach across the seat for something,I have to walk around to the other side. Just like at work, stuff on the top shelf,I get a ladder,no way am I reaching. No walk up night deposit drop off at the bank.

We do not have walk ups down here either. Sometimes a friend or someone who has their own account, and does not want everyone knowing their pin number, will be a passenger in the vehicle and ask the driver to go through the ATM so can get some cash for their trip or destination. When they get to the ATM, they will get out, run up, get their cash and be on their way.

Been more than once I've driven up to an ATM and some fool had decided to go through backwards so that his passenger could use the ATM without exiting the car. I always hope someone else is behind me so that they have to back out and figure out how to get out of the way.

goose63

Years ago on a Saturday I signed the lone for my tractor just the drive up was open so I walked up got the papers went back to the pickup when I was done I drove up gave them the papers got the money and drove off didn't hold up people that way

She could have some impairment of her arm that makes reaching difficult or painful.  An impingement of the shoulder would sure do that.  Way to be understanding.   ::)

You make a valid point Roxie.

It is interesting how our mind works sometimes. We do not know all the details, but fill it in with assumptions, usually regarding the worst in people. Where I live, I know of two people that went to a lot of trouble regarding this.

The first was a guy that put up a spray painted sign that read, "Whoever took my trash cans, give them back!" Well the first thing is; who is really going to steal a used trash can? Yuck!! And second of all, it is not like they cost that much. If the guy thought about it, he would realize he lives on a big hill with hundreds of acres of open fields around him. I can almost guarantee no one took his trash cans, the wind blew them out of sight!

Another person put up another sign. "Thanks for breaking my window!" Obviously the window was busted out, but we are in the middle of winter and his house is very close to the road. The house is also at a 4 way intersection where all four roads must stop. Since only one window was busted out, it is more likely a rock was picked up by a snowplow and hurled into the window, or was thrown from the tires as someone stepped on the gas after stopping for the stop sign. Here we do not use straight salt, but salt mixed with sand and occasionally the gravel screens used to process the sand do miss a rock and they can be put onto the roads.

But I am no better. I often judge rather harshly those at Walmart who ride those scooters for shopping who in no way seem impaired except they are so big that walking is considered work.
As a sheep farmer, I have no intentions of arriving at the pearly gates in a well preserved body, rather I am going to slide into heaven sideways with my Kubota tractor, kick the manure out of my muck boots, and loudly proclaim, "Whoo Hoo, another Sheppard has just arrived!"

It all started with driving in the parkway and parking on the driveway .  Then they put up all.these signs for me . No turn on RED

You see that up here in the winter, get to the machine to find out the windows are frozen shut.

If I'm in a truck I always get out.  2500 and 550 4X4s aren't easy let alone comfortable for me to reach the ATM buttons.  It's faster for me to get out than stretch and fumble  :)  What bothers me is when someone is preparing their banking while sitting at the ATM >:( >:(  Mine's always ready to go.

They may be trying to hide their PIN number. There are a lot of incidents where people get their PIN numbers stolen from people looking at them through binoculars et. and getting their PIN numbers. They may be putting their hand over the numbers while punching them in. They are at least creating a difficult view of their card.

Have never used an ATM in my life.  Our bank hires the prettiest tellers and they are always friendly.  I always go inside to put in checks or once in a while get a little cash.
I look forward to going inside our bank.

This thread is going to get a bunch funnier when you post the pic of one of these ladies trying to mace you for taking their picture at the ATM.
If one of these ladies sees you taking their picture they don't know if you're a robber or a pervert. I want to hear what you tell the cops. :D

Let me see if I've got this straight.  If someone drives up and uses the ATM, everything's fine.  But if someone drives up, gets out of their car and uses the ATM, it's going to ruin your life.  I think that's about it, right?

If I took a picture of our pretty tellers and my wife found them on my phone, I would not be allowed to go to the bank anymore.  Just have to keep going back to refresh my memory.

I've done that a few times.  With my grandmother who has a hard time walking, with a friend just for fun, and once in a right side drive car...I don't see what the big deal is..like that comedian said, you drive up to a machine and it gives you money, what are you complaining about! lol

Tim:
My point is that this isn't the only ATM at this bank. There is parking lot and an ATM on the other side of the bank. It's a walk up ATM. You have to drive by both of them to get here to then use this "drive up" ATM.

Why can't they go to the one on the other side of the bank instead of using this one?

It won't take them any longer and it makes using the "drive up" one easier for all who want to just drive up and do their business. There are signs on this "drive up" that says it's a "drive up" only.
Another point is that there is a sign right there saying that's it's a "drive up" ATM.  It's like parking next to a sign that says "no parking" some people just don't get it. Can't they read?

It's not ruining my life, I just thought that it was funny to see some walk up to a "drive up" ATM. And then to have it happen two days in a row, was even funnier.

I don't use the ATM or window. I agree with Cedarman. Those girls inside are pretty and friendly. Not that I would pay any attention to that. ::)

One of the branches I use has a drive up and a walk up in the airlock/vestibule going in.  I rarely go into the bank although the tellers are cute  ;)  Anyway the drive up machine was out of service one day and I went in to do what I had to do and made a comment about the machine being down.  They pointed out the 2nd machine that I walked right by going in.  They told me it'd been there over year when I asked when it was put in  ;D
I'd be careful taking pics of people at ATMs.  Good way to have a meeting with the police  :)

This is a pretty funny thread - thanks for starting it.  You must be doing good business to have to hit the bank two days in a row! 8)  I don't have a business, so if I go to the bank (including ATMs located in the middle of a parking lot) more than once a month, that is a lot!  I have direct deposit of my pension check and such and I use my credit card for nearly all transaction to earn cash back.

There is only one employee-owned grocery store that does not accept CCs so I use my ATM card and get cash back there.  Funny story there.  The clerks will hit the "atm" button on their console when you swipe your card (since they don't accept credit  cards and to make the line move quicker).  There isn't even a choice for CCs.  One lady was swiping her ATM visa card and it would jump to "enter your pin".  She kept hitting "cancel" and swiping again and again.  The clerk asked her what was wrong and the lady was very upset that it didn't let her hit the ATM button.  When the clerk said she was doing it, the lady got even more irate!  ::)

I went back and looked, yep, license plates blocked.  Good job.  Did you notice the bollard pole?  Looks like someone hit it trying to get close to the keypad!  I think the lady's arms are just too short to reach the keypad from inside their cars ;)  Personally, I would be worried that some scum is waiting for the cash to pop out and they would run through and grab it.  You would be stuck inside your car because your door is blocked.
