This is what happened to first log I cut on my mill about a year and a half ago.

Right after we set it up in the dining room Christmas morning.

The under structure.

Center Piece

Tables set with the two 4 years old grandchildren eagerly waiting.

My Daughter-in-law ordered a rustic pine table and my son provided the log and some of the labor.

Thanks for Looking and Merry Christmas.

Having a 3 year old in my house, I can understand wanting rustic and sturdy  :D

That's a fine looking table, and I bet it will still be in use for Great Grandchildren.

I am a big fan of the rustic clean finish as you have done on your table.  :)

Great looking table and the way it is cut and finished really makes the features of the wood pop!

Darrel, I REALLY like your table very well done. Are the boards for the top 2"x 12"?  How are the cross pieces joined at the corners? That is a nice table

So what made it so black in the recesses?  burning or some stain?
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

isawlogs

The stain, where the table is sanded fine, the stain does not penetrate as much as where it is not sanded.  The rougher the surface the darker stains take on there darkess colouring.
