POSTON WIDEHEAD

I use to work in a paper tube factory when I was out for the summer in high school.

I had a special leather glove I wore and the knife above on my finger.
When I would get a bundle of tubes in the rack, I would rap the twine around them, pull it tight wearing my leather glove and cut the twine with the knife on my finger.
I actually could do it very fast. :)
The older I get I wish my body could Re-Gen.

Looks like a knife blade that fits on a finger, maybe to cut string ?? or to slit open an ear of corn while shucking. Could be way off base, depending on how large the diam. is of the "ring".

Concur it is a ring knife for cutting string. I also worked at a St Regis papermill during the summers while in college and we had a bag plant next door and these knives were commonly used there.

Seems to me that if a feller was to use one of those items to open his beer as the guy in the video, then he must be mindful of which hand to hold his brew. Otherwise he might be removing some nose hairs, etc.

I was going to guess a can opener but the tip is a bit rounded for that function. :)
