Fell and bucked to 9 foot, will Csmill tomorrow.
Was thinking a table,so should I slab cut or quarter saw? 24 inch at the base.
This tree has 3/8 to 1/4 growth rings in years 8 thru 11,then tightens way down.
I will get some pictures tomorrow....................................................................Upper

Lovely smelling stuff.
Very easy wood otherwise to mill and season.
We used some for our kitchen benchtops as one piece flitches.
Its a little soft for that but looks nice!

Cheers

I haven't used cedar in a long time but it is pricy to buy & not easy to find any to saw for me. If I were to use it is probably use it to laminate a more common wood. Unless you have it pouring out your ears you might be better off having someone bandsaw mill it so there is less going into chips.

If you stick to the CSM I'd guess you'd probably get more usable wood or of it if you plane milled it.

Thanks guys, glad to see I am cutting something of worth.
There were a lot of these planted here in the Central Valley back in the 40's and 50's.
And now with the advent of a sewer system and decommission of dry wells.they are coming out.
Plus they get too big for the area they are in..................................................................................Upper

My wife has been wanting me to get her cedar for 10 years now. I don't have any that is big enough to saw. I only had 4 on the whole place & the goats I had killed 3 of them.

Well put the ripping chain on today, seems to run through a little easier.
Had a problem with the bar clamps coming loose, cut into one of the tightening bolts.Oppps.
Hope I did not ruin the chain. On a good note,I do smell good....Upper
