The two "periods" (called umlaut in German) over the a changes the sound: "sag" (without) vs "say" (with umlaut).  Have fun on your river cruise...es macht viel Spass.   All the best, Rob.

Germans manage their forests much more than in the USA.  You would probably enjoy a visit with a local forester. 
Where does your cruise begin and end?  I'm guessing you will see Passau.

I spent the better part of 3 years in Germany way back in the 50's. Most of the language I learned would be entirely inappropriate to use in public places or on this forum.  ;D When working on German equipment, it helps to learn some appropriate swear words  ::)
