Just wondering if any one has used a 52mm big bore kit from hy wy.   We have done 2 rebuilds on a 372 and blew both up.  the first one we didn't even get 10 tanks through it and broke a ring. and on the second one we got maybe 20-30 tanks and broke a chunk of piston off on the transfer port side.
this kit does come from china (yes I know) and the company that we bought it off of said all big bore kits are made in the same factory.  Is this true?

Thanks Kev

HyWay?  Never used one. But all BB kits are not created equal.

I have used quite a few hyway kits and feel they are pretty good quality but the last one which was the first big bore kit I used did only got maybe 10 tanks through it and broke the top of the piston off on the exhaust side and destroyed piston and cylinder.
so the one I am building right now I am not using big bore. we will see how long this one runs

I've used the Hyway kits on a number of rebuilds and I thought they are made very well . I do swap the piston ring to a Caber and watch those clips and how you position them .
I AM NOT BRAND LOYAL !

We had a rough winter this year.  Very cold. Lots of snow. Very long. But the logger types were out in the woods slugging it out just the same. A friend of mine was one of those guys and toasted his saw and was in a pinch early January so I lent him my "Huztl 52mm BB" 372 build I had done back in the winter of 1013/14. I had put a full season on that saw and it was a solid runner. But last fall retired it as I was on to new projects.....so it needed a job. He ran that saw all winter and gave it back to me in may.....took it again for full time work this last two months. It's still out there cutting.....and its had a hard life.

That saw "Cyclops" in the video is the current "saw on the tractor" and also has enough time to define it as a solid saw build....so all I can do is relay my experiences so folks can read into it what they please...

Thanks for all the replys.   we did used the caber rings on the second rebuild.  weimedog I havent watched that build yet but I have subbed to you so when I get some time I will watch it.  I was just looking to see if other people have had problems or not with them.  For all I know it could have been a bad run who knows.
thanks again
