Just one slab of many out of that cedar log.

The slabs on right are 3 inch thick and the slabs on the left are 2 inch thick. The log on the right even went through a fire.

Wish I could find a whole forest of these types of cedar logs.  ;D

These were not caught on fire on a trailer though.  ;) They were in the middle of a wildfire a couple of years ago.

Those are some pieces. Trees that make lumber like that are rare around our area. bg

I live on the coast of Virginia,  the ceder here is pretty decent and plentiful but nothing close to what you have in your picture.  Most ceder around here is less than 24" in diameter.  My Hat's off to you Brother.   Five stars.   Can we get an Oncore ??

Probably 80-90% of the cedar in oklahoma is for grindage. However there is so much volume growing that there is plenty of good saw logs available if you know where to find them.  :)

I think your drier air and plenty of wind should be good for the trees and bad for the fungi. Do you see much heart rot in the trees you cut or is what we see here more typical?

okmulch

No these type of trees are not typical. We still get a lot of the big trees with rot in the center or end grown bark throughout..
