I saw this little machine for sale online I'm not sure if it's homemade or not if it is someone did a good job. Looks a little dangerous with no cage tho

I was curious about that machine also.  Is that a Mercedes emblem hung on the front?  :)    Is it an old Garrett? What has 6 bolt planeteries
Think like a farmer.

Yeah looks like a #9. I don't know it probably doesn't even have planatarys it's probably just a regular axle

Looks like one of those little Gafner machines.  They had Mercedes engine and primary drive, i think.

Make sure you know how to fall properly when you fall and as to not hurt anyone around you.
Also remember, it's not the fall what hurts, its the sudden stop. !!

Think the cage is MIA probably had one but got lost for whatever reason.

On gafner's smaller machines they had planetaries just outside the pumkinsand the stub axle went out to the wheels, or as some people called them "inner" planetaries.

It is in fact a gafner mini skidder,  I'm interested in it as well and I feel the price is fair. I have been trying to buy a local one but what he wants for it is outrageous! I have an original sales brochure for it with specs.

Huh that's cool! So it is supposed to have a cage that would be the first thing I did to it. I like to learn about these things. It would probably pull a fair amount of wood in a day if the distances were kept short.

Woodhauler I'm with you.The idea is to have equipment you can actually use.You have to have some deep pockets are lots of fabrication skills when you get in to the exotic machinery.

Parts are actually  not that  hard  to find for it. It is a component machine like most made.
