So I am the new kid on the block. Not new per say to running a saw just new the terminology and brands.  Always ran stihl 029's just what we had on the farm.  Now that  I have moved away and got married, and started a family we have gone back to buring wood. 15-20 cord a year. Also will help my brother cut for his house another 15-20 cord.  Most wood will be in the 12-15 inch range, some felling but not much. What would you guys recommend for a saw.  Weight really isn't an issue both of us are rather large individuals.  Looking to stay around 400 a piece or so.  Thanks guys. appreciate it.

I've never run a 590 but every chainsaw forum member drools over it. Huntsville - Redstone Arsenal was last post.

jmo1754,welcome to the forum.
I would go around to the dealers, whatever you have there, and tell them what you want and see which dealer you like the best. Good luck.

Jimo1754 welcome to the forum. I replaced my MS-290 with a Echo CS-590 last year and love it. If you want a great saw for $400.00 I would recommend the ECHO. It has quite a bit more power and torque then the old farmboss had and about half of the vibration. It also costs 1/2 of what a Stihl costs for the same cc's and comes with a 5 year warranty. I would recommend buying any saw you choose from a local shop that will be there for you if any problems arise. :)

Not real familiar with the smaller echos but i purchased a cs670 8 years ago and havent had any trouble out of it. I cut around 15 cords a year. Also inherited my dafs echo 650 evl and 660 evl and those old work horses never disappoint. Even a year later on old gas they fire up when needed.
