Got a non running PP 380 off CL. Piston and ring are scored. Has anybody ever used a 49mm Stihl TS400 or 039 piston & ring? What mods (if any)? Just used top ring?

The intake boot was torn and I'm betting that was why it was so lean. Or maybe it was straight gassed. Gonna replace boot, impulse and fuel lines. May have to go down to crank seals.

Looking bad. You will probably have to replace the cylinder as well.

I had a 380 for 16 years. Not sure, but parts may be same as Husqvarna. When I ordered a new boot, it came with a Husky label.

Surprisingly, the cylinder is good. The more I read about these pistons...it would be tough to mod a 039 ( for me anyway!) - needs changes in skirt, dome, transfer window. I've ordered an OEM piston kit. Husqvarna now owns Poulan, Weedeater, Jonsered - many of their parts have same # as a Poulan but say "HOP" (Husqvarna Outdoor Products).

I have a chraftsman 3.4ci. 1984  same as poulan pro 3300 everything i have found says husq. Did a woods port &muffler mod my self. Wow!! Like a completely different saw! Was good runner for 4+ yrs i ran it stock but crank seal started leaking and i didnt have much in it so i decided to experiment. Glad I did!  Repair clinic is where i got ring bearings and seals and gasket kit around 35$.
