I ordered a new shed to stack lumber under. 20 x 21 x 12 foot high. They came yesterday from Virginia and had it up in 2 hours.
Now I can take the backhoe and move my bigger lumber in the shed to air dry.

I have in there now, Magnolia, Elm and Persimmon. These big cants can breath now and later be re-sawn.

Mine will be here Tuesday, only 8 foot tall, too much wind around these parts for taller.  Congrats and fillerup.
Retired to the ranch, saw, and sell solar pumps.

I will take the persimmon.

That's a good looking shed.  Is it 12 feet on the side or the center?

It amazes me how much it shrinks.  I cut some on the quarter a full 3" thick.  Three and a half months later, it has shrunk to 2 3/4" in thickness.  That is 1/4" in 3" and I am sure that it is not done yet.

I sawed the Persimmon 4 inches thick x wide.....8 and 10 wide.....I'm gonna just hold on to it. No plans....but just to say I have some and you don't.  smiley_nananana

I like the idea of making cants, storing under cover and milling later into boards.  Nice Shed, Post.

I see you got the "option" of the 45 braces at each leg. I bought one like that once and did not get them. I regretted it later.

That persimmon, if it dries without cracking, is worth a lot of $.  Air dry it, send it to me and I'll kiln dry it, then sell it and give you 50% 25% of the proceeds

The great thing about the portable canopy is that it is portable.  No taxes, portable and green.   Next thing you know customers will want to buy it and you will have to become the rep.......

Side note:  Heavy duty anchors are a good way to go with these.  Don't want it to become too portable in a wind storm and end up at WDH's place.   :o :)

Its already anchored. On each corner and between each pole is a 36 inch rebar driven into the ground.  ;D
Its not portable....its there and want be moved.

Got my mill shed pad built, formed and just about ready to pour. Between rain and trying to find a concrete finisher it ain't looking good. Can't find anyone that will do just the finishing. Got the pipe for the trusses Saturday. Yes I am building pipe frame but I will be using rough cut lumber for the walls. If anyone knows a really good finisher please let  me know. I would like to get it poured this week before it rains.

All you need is ,1friends ,2 beer , 3food and a big stick too screed the concrete. and a bull float too smooth it a bit .   You might want to trowel it real smooth but that is work if you have never done that .  You can broom finish it with a fine bristle floor broom .   Remember 2&3 are only released when the concrete is placed and floated and broomed or troweled.

Got it poured today, got the posts cut and part of one truss built. I was watching the finisher and it is truly an art to it. Slab is slick as  a babys bottom. The man who finished it is Edgar Jones from Monroe. He did an excellent job. I am very pleased. He said he was trying to get some young men to take up concrete work. Said he had done 10 already thics week and was way behind. They said it was to hard of work. That is sad.
