A customer wants to make a 4" thick slab out of a 36" wide log with an S curve in it.  We are thinking that we can cut all the way across down to 2 inches above the pith.  Turn it over and cut down til 4" thick.  We must have the log absolutely flat with the pith.  This to be done on my Peterson.  I'm thinking that 6" thick would be better.  I'd hate to see it split at the pith as we got to 4". A slabber would be the ticket...but I don't have one.

If you make your log supports level by passing the blade over them and mark the end frames at this height you can use this mark to make sure it will end up exactly 4" after you flip the log
