How long is your wood? Do people really still deal in face cords?

Best way to know is to fill the box, then stack it to find out for sure... especially if you are going to claim a certain number of face cord per box.

190 cubic feet in a thrown 128 cubic foot cord.  63.333 cubic feet in a 16" 1/3 of a cord face cord.  6.189 of those face cords in 392 cubic feet.  That's how I figure and sell it.  I'd call that load 6 face cords.

thanks corley5 that's what I was looking for if I wanted to load it then dump it and pile it that's how I would have done it :)

190 is for 16" long sticks. It would be a little less cubic feet if it's shorter and a few more cubic feet if it's longer pieces.  I think it's 160 for 12" wood and 210 for 24" wood.

cutter88, you could always sample a load or two. But keep in mind firewood volume is regulated in Canada on stacked volume in true cords and m3. So if it doesn't stack out the customer can file a claim. ;)

In Missouri a legal measurement is 128 cubic feet stacked. We also get a +/- 5% leeway. If it stacks out to be 122 cubic feet it counts as a full cord since each time you'd stack it it could vary slightly due to how tight it's stacked.

I've never worried over a wheel barrel load, and have bought firewood for years in various forms: tree length, 100", processed into 16-20" random. ;D

At one time we cut firewood here year round for two houses and 2 potato storage barns. Didn't seem to be any end to it. :D
