Can anyone tell me if there are any restrictions on sawing Baldcypress in Virginia ?  I've heard that it is protected here, but can't find anything official on the VA Dept of Forestry website.

I'd be interested as well. I live in Maryland just up the street from Battle Creek Cypress Swamp. Small County park there. Was thinkin about stoppin in and seein if I could saw up any downed trees. Put a Wainscot in my bathroom,, maybe freshen it up a bit :D
Maybe you can and I can't,, or vice versa.

The restriction is probably on logging in the wetlands, not on the cypress. Here in NC we cut quite a bit ,and some comes from VA

Saw away....no restrictions on sawing bald cypress in Virginia.  The only issue with DOF would be any water quality violations involved with logging.
