I put a 12 volt winch on my mill for the up and down. I had to kinda rig a sprocket on the winch spool which worked out really nice. The only problem is it moves the sawhead to fast. I cant change the sprocket on the winch but I can change the one on the top. But now I need to know if I should go bigger or smaller to slow the head down.

Bigger

If the winch has 12 teeth and the other sprocket 24, the winch will turn twice as fast as will the other sprocket. If both have the same number of teeth, they will turn at the same speed.

Bigger. more size in relation to winch sprocket = slower turning in relation to winch sprocket.

I kinda thought that is what I needed to do, but I'd figure to be safe that I would post it on here.
