What do you use for lumber tags? Looking for something to track date cut, size etc. kiln safe. Thanks

Tom the Sawyer

I started tagging the logs in my yard, mostly clients' logs that might be here for a while.  I bought colored plastic tags from U-Line.  They accept a permanent marker well and seem to be holding up to the wind (attached with a single staple (hammer stapler) on the end of the log) and moisture.  They are a #5 (about 2.5"x4").  The weakness may be the cold, with temps near 0 they are very brittle.  The next batch I buy will probably be the Tyvek tags they sell.
07 TK B-20, Custom log arch, 20' trailer w/log loading arch, F350 flatbed dually dump.  Piggy-back forklift.  LS tractor w/FEL, Bobcat S250 w/grapple, Stihl 025C 16", Husky 372XP 24/30" bars, Grizzly 20" planer, Nyle L200M DH kiln.
If you call and my wife says, "He's sawin logs", I ain't snoring.
