I like the bradford pear flowering trees but they fall apart when they get around 15 years old.
If i take a scion from the tree and graft it to OHxF 333 root stock will that make it stay smaller and therefore less prone to breakage?

mesquite buckeye

Graft failure with age is a fairly common problem. I am not familiar with that rootstock, but sometimes a different rootstock will work better long term.

The real solution is to root the scion (on its own roots). Then there is no graft union to fail. This is a growing trend in orchard trees.
Manage 80 acre tree farm in central Missouri and Mesquite timber and about a gozillion saguaros in Arizona.
